CHARLOTTE, N.C. (Feb. 28, 2018) – Crescent Communities, in partnership with CNM Enterprises, has welcomed the first residents to the much anticipated NOVEL Stonewall Station community located in the heart of Uptown Charlotte’s booming Stonewall corridor. The pioneering mixed use development will provide a major anchor and hub of activity with Uptown’s first Whole Foods Market, making it a catalyst for the renaissance of the Stonewall Street corridor where a number of complementary projects are currently under construction.
Located at 400 E. Stonewall Street in Uptown, NOVEL Stonewall Station offers the ultimate urban living experience with captivating skyline views from the expansive 10th floor amenity deck, 60,000 square feet of lifestyle retail and restaurants, and direct access via a 9,000-square-foot plaza to the Stonewall Station light rail stop just as the LYNX Blue Line Extension is set to open next month.
“NOVEL Stonewall Station’s outstanding location connecting South End with Uptown, direct transit connection, and grocer-anchored retail make it the first fully integrated urban living experience in Uptown,” said Michael Tubridy, Managing Director of the Charlotte market for Crescent Communities. “We’re excited to be a part of Uptown’s transition into one of the most desirable places to live in Charlotte and to deliver much needed neighborhood amenities like Whole Foods Market to the rapidly growing Uptown population.”
Perched 110 feet above street level and featuring one of the largest indoor/outdoor amenity spaces in Uptown, NOVEL Stonewall Station’s sprawling amenity complex was carefully programmed to maximize the panoramic views of the Uptown skyline from all areas. On this level, residents will enjoy access to a double-height club and game room, catering kitchen, a 3,000-square-foot wellness center with state-of-the-art TechnoGym equipment, yoga studio, and a virtual fitness trainer.
These active indoor spaces flow naturally outdoors to an expansive pool terrace flanked with private cabanas and featuring a large, heated, invisible-edge saltwater pool with a beach entry, tanning ledge and underwater speakers. Adjacent to the pool, residents will enjoy a rooftop beer garden complete with custom community tables, gas grills and a linear firepit underscoring the Uptown skyline. For our furry friends, a spacious, fully gated, off-leash dog park offers ample opportunity to stay active and socialize with the neighbors.
Comprised of 338 mid-rise and 121 signature tower, studio, and one- and two-bedroom apartment homes, each unique residence at NOVEL Stonewall Station includes luxury features like large, user-friendly kitchens and baths. Trend-forward finishes include designer lighting, upgraded GE Energy Star stainless appliances, quartz or granite countertops, simulated bleached-oak flooring, two-tone cabinetry featuring soft-close doors and drawers, dual-flush toilets, frameless glass walk-in showers, along with technology upgrades like keyless entry doors, Google Fiber internet, Nest learning thermostats and USB outlets in all apartments. Residences range in size from 512-square-foot studios up to a 2,600-square-foot, three-bedroom penthouse, and are available now for immediate move-in.
Unique touches are added throughout the community, including a substantial investment in public art. Residents and passersby won’t be able to miss “Wanderwall” – an 18,000-square-foot sculpture designed by the world-renowned, Brooklyn-based artist Marc Fornes, in collaboration with Charlotte’s Arts and Science Council – that will form a dramatic three-dimensional building skin wrapping the exposed parking structure. Wanderwall will be one of the largest public art installations in Charlotte and will undoubtedly become an iconic symbol representing our City’s dedication to the Arts. A number of large scale murals from local artists will also be prominently displayed in the community’s courtyard, and modern sculptural features will soon be installed in the Stonewall Station transit plaza.
As previously announced, Asana Partners is under contract to acquire the retail space at NOVEL Stonewall Station, which includes over 60,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space – inclusive of the 38,000-square-foot Whole Foods Market, scheduled to open by early summer. The development will also include Charlotte’s first EVEN hotel by Intercontinental as well as a Home2Suites by Hilton.
Crescent Communities currently has 19 multifamily communities under construction or in operation across the U.S., including six in the Queen City that have recently opened – NOVEL NoDa, NOVEL Providence Farm and NOVEL Stonewall Station – or are in development – NOVEL Atherton, NOVEL Montford Park and NOVEL Research Park. In total, these 19 multifamily and mixed-use developments represent more than 6,000 apartments, 225,000 square feet of retail space and a total investment of over $1.4 billion.
