CHARLOTTE, N.C. (March 9, 2018) – In celebration of Arbor Week, Crescent Communities, through its Tree for a Key program, is joining TreesCharlotte this Saturday, March 10th, for a city-wide TreeStore to give Charlotte residents the opportunity to receive two free trees per household and some valuable expert advice to make sure those trees thrive at their new home.
The TreeStore, presented by Crescent Communities’ local NOVEL multifamily communities and Fielding Homes single-family communities, will be at the City of Charlotte’s Landscape Management building – 701 Tuckaseegee Road – on Saturday from 9 to 11 a.m. Each resident must bring proof of residency as well as a valid email address in order to participate.
This event supports the mission of TreesCharlotte to help the City of Charlotte reach its goal of increasing the tree canopy by 50 percent by 2050, and Crescent’s commitment to donate a tree for each multifamily home it leases.
“As a real estate company focused on building community and improving people’s lives, we seek to take an active role to help ensure greenspaces and our tree canopy are preserved even as our City sees rapid growth,” said Ben Watt, marketing director for Crescent Communities. “Since our founding in 1963 this has been a core value and today we remain committed to sustainable development and giving back to our local community. Our partnership with TreesCharlotte reflects our desire to not only provide shelter but also to do what’s right and better people’s lives.”
Since 2014, Crescent Communities has donated one tree for each home leased at a NOVEL apartment community through its Tree for a Key initiative in partnership with TreesCharlotte. Through the Tree for a Key program, first implemented at Crescent Dilworth in 2015, the real estate company has planted 593 trees throughout the City of Charlotte. This year, with the addition of three new multifamily communities now leasing in Charlotte - NOVEL Stonewall Station, NOVEL NoDa and NOVEL Providence Farm - Crescent anticipates donating an additional 800 trees to add to the local canopy.
In keeping with Crescent’s sustainable values and efforts, again this spring the company will launch its annual Statement of Stewardship highlighting the its commitment to conservation efforts.
